Sherry Shepherd Sargent
The Founding of PIN
From 1970 to 2015, Sherry Shepherd Sargent volunteered for a range of causes benefiting CCSD students. In 1978, Sherry and a few other mothers helped start the Parent Information Network (PIN) with the goal of creating a forum for parents to discuss the issues facing their children.
Over the years, Sherry consistently supported teachers, served as a PTO President, and involved herself in drug and alcohol prevention programs at local, state and national levels. She helped start the Red Ribbon Week campaign, which has been adopted district-wide.
What began as an informal gathering is now PIN—an organization supported by the Cherry Creek School District, its superintendent and staff, and parent representatives from schools throughout the district. Sherry’s impact on our community continues through the many lives she has touched.
